What “compact” actually means

Best cheap tiny pot — Dash Mini
ASIN B07DTPC1QB. Thermal switch, about 2 cups cooked. No timer, no fuzzy logic, thin non-stick. Owner-consensus warning: overfill and it spit-starchy-volcanoes. That is a water-line problem, not a hidden steam program.
Buy this for a dorm or a second pot. Skip it if brown rice or leftovers are the job.

Best small digital (not fuzzy) — Aroma ARC-914SBD
ASIN B007WQ9YNO. 4 cups uncooked / 8 cups cooked, delay timer, Flash Rice, steamer tray. Digital presets, not fuzzy logic. This is the compact Aroma. It is not the ARC-150SB.

Measure the counter, not the Amazon photo
- Lid swing. A 3-cup Zojirushi still needs height to open. Measure under-cabinet clearance with the lid up.
- Retractable cord vs a dangling brick. The NS-LHC05 retracts. The Aroma and Dash do not.
